The Malahat Drive
begins at Goldstream Park with a steady climb up this beautiful mountain drive.
Views from the Malahat scenic lookouts and accommodations are among the most
beautiful anywhere in the world.
The Malahat overlooks Saanich Peninsula a deep water fjord that extends from just north of Victoria to the end of the Saanich Peninsula. From the Malahat you can see over the Saanich Peninsula and out into the Gulf and San Juan Islands. This is truly one of the most spectacular views anywhere and you are just minutes from the heart of Victoria. Goldstream Park just at the start of the Malahat Drive leaving Victoria is well worth the visit. It is home to the spawning grounds for salmon and each fall provides a wonder of nature for all to behold. First come the salmon and then the eagles. Thousands of salmon followed by hundreds of eagles. Be sure to stop at the summit viewpoint, which is the second pullout on the right as you head north on the Malahat. The viewpoint is separated from the highway by a large rock. |
