Kilometres (168 miles) northeast of Vancouver in the heart of the Nicola Valley.
With a population of approximately 8,000, and a trading area of approximately
15,000, Merritt is the commercial centre for the area. Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall…there is a lot to keep you busy in Merritt. Merritt is a wonderful place for outdoor enthusiasts, In winter the cross country skiing is superb and there are many snowmobiling trails. In summer Nicola Lake will lure you for a cooling dip, or
skimming the surface waters via windsurfer or sailboat - there's a good chance
of a steady breeze. Spring, summer and fall - hike or bike through our beautiful valley. One of our mottos is "A Lake a Day as Long as You Stay". Merritt is known for some of the best flyfishing in the world. Spin casters are welcome too of course! There are quite a number of camping areas around, including Claybanks right in the heart of Merritt, on the banks of the Coldwater River. Hunting? There's game in them thar hills!
