| Osoyoos is located in the southern most region of British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. This 1995 "Communities in Bloom" award winner is at the crossroads of two of BC's main highways, Hwy. 97 and Hwy. 3. Hwy. 97 runs north to Alaska and South to Mexico. Hwy 3 runs west to Vancouver and east to the Alberta Border. Only five (5) minutes from the Canada/U.S. Border, Osoyoos, is strategically located for exporters. Lake Osoyoos is the focal point of the town and extends along the valley 16km north and south into the USA. Although boaters have free access to the USA side of the lake, permission from US Customs must be obtained prior to crossing the Border by boat. The lake has an average summer temperature of 24°C (70°F) and rarely freezes over in the winter. Numerous public beaches and parks are ideal for children and water skiers as they are shallow and sandy along the shore.
